Keshar Academy of Learning (KAL) Steiner School Goa

I joined this school in 1997 along with my daughter who was 3 years old. It has been a fantastic journey for me as a teacher and as a parent. Both my children have benefitted immensely from this beautiful, loving and caring school. Today, they are both well balanced adults doing very well in their chosen fields. My daughter is currently doing her Master's in Pediatric Physiotherapy in Bangalore & my son is in his second year of engineering in RNSIT, Bangalore.A lot of credit for this has to go to Liza and wonderful community she has created. The children are able to learn in a stress-free environment almost tailor-made to suit their developmental needs. What more do we, as parents, need from schools?? To see children learning and growing happily has been a true blessing for me as a teacher. I love working with the children here and wouldn't trade it for anything!! I just hope and pray parents can take a good look at this wonderful environment and decide for themselves. It's truly an oasis in the midst of other 'pressure cooker' schools!!

KAL is not registered with the Directorate of Education. KAL is not registered with Cambridge. KAL is not registered with the Anthroposophical Society in India and does not follow Waldorf philosophy in either spirit or letter. The principal has a short temper and shouts at children and staff when she is in a bad mood. She allows diseased, stray dogs to roam around the premises and children have been bitten by ticks which the dogs are infested with. The principal also uses two different names and has amassed many debts over the years, which she appears to be repaying from current fees, at the cost of teachers' salaries and school facilities. She is very dishonest and does not tell prospective parents that the school is in severe financial difficulty, but waits until they have paid thousands in fees, then breaks it to them that the school is struggling and may have to close. She then waits for them to offer large donations, knowing they will not want their children to have to settle into yet another new school. Anyone who leaves the school is bad-mouthed and blamed for the school's failures. My two teenage children were at the school for ten months. Before I enrolled them, I was assured they would be able to study three sciences to IGCSE level. There are no science labs at the school, but I was told arrangements would be made with a nearby school for practical lessons to be taken using their labs. However, almost a year later and a month into the following academic year, no arrangements had been made for my children to have any practical science lessons and there was still no physics teacher at the school. When I raised this with the principal, rather than apologise for not ensuring the provision was in place, she simply said, "fees once paid are not refundable - it's in the fine print." Almost all the gushing 5* reviews on this site are from parents worried that the school may have to close down because of its financial situation. We were all asked to upload reviews last year to encourage more students to join the school. The principal does not seem to care that she has involved other people in her dishonest scam.

We shifted from our hectic Mumbai life to Goa last month to give our 9 year old daughter a childhood that she can live and recall with joy. KAL came to us via a friend. One visit and a meeting with Liza, we were sold. Its been 3 weeks and my daughter comes home glowing and happy. She has had fun and is excited about life. She no longer commutes on polluted roads to sit in 4 walls. Here, the doors and windows are open inviting fresh air and fresh ideas to a growing developing mind. Here is a Waldorf school that knows that one size does not fit all.In a conformist society where we are cloning copy cats unsuccessfully, are our children not ready for change?

Keshar Academy of Learning (KAL) is the school "where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where knowledge is free, where words come out from the depth of truth..." After being weighed down by the pressure of what must be taught and what must be learnt - all too soon - in a traditional 'pressure cooker' environment, our son (then three and a half) began to be truly himself on the very first day at KAL. Now, after nearly two years, each beautiful school day unfolds on a journey of discovery... physically, emotionally, intellectually. Here, there is no fear of missing out, no fear of being left behind - the inspiring and loving teachers take each child under their wing, giving them the gift of a complete education.

My search ends here...... I am very happy to have my child in KAL . It's like my dream comes true. The day my daughter visited this school and spend a day there, she decided to go in KAL. My daughter is very much enjoying going to school . It's the place where she vl grow naturally -physically, mentally and spiritually in a home type environment. She is learning playfully through music,arts, drama,dance, wood work etc..... The staff is very caring and loving . Highly recommending.......
