Rajghat Dam Scenic Area

Absolutely Loved this place. Went for the first time here and luckily it was raining so the gates of the dams were opened to maintain the water flow. This was such a delight to watch this place. The best time to visit is August - September because it rains during this time and you'll see the gates opened and it will be an experience of a lifetime. The dam has its area in both UP and MP. There are around 36 gates altogether in this dam. 18 are in Uttar Pradesh and the rest 18 in Madhya Pradesh. The place is 30 kilometers from Lalitpur and it takes usually half an hour to reach from Lalitpur. The roads are good along the way. Once you reach the dam you'll see a large stretch of water on the left side of the dam which looks like a huge ocean. And on the right you'll see the Betwa river and when I went the water was being pulled from the left side to the right side of the river.nOn the right side you'll see a small park which is meant for the visitors and it has some very beautiful plants with flowers on it. It also has a area where stones were kept and the waves from the water came and they collided with the stones which gave exactly the same feeling as you were on a beach.nThe dam began its construction in 1975 as told by the workers there and it stretches about 11 kilometers from Uttar Pradesh to Madhya Pradesh. It is the largers dam in Lalitpur as well as in Madhya Pradesh. The purpose to build this dam was to harness the flow of water and to generate electricity from that. This dam provides valuable resources to farmers that help in irrigation.nOverall the dam is very beautiful and I hope you all will enjoy your visit here.
