Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Regional Centre Ranchi (an autonomous Institution under Ministry of Culture, Government of India) has launched a unique tailored course titled “Post Graduate Diploma in Tribal Arts and crafts in the month of September 2019 (in collaboration with Ranchi University) in order to meet the Professional needs of manpower in the area of Tribal arts and Crafts in academic, non-academic, corporate, governmental and non-governmental set- up.nnPost Graduate Diploma in Tribal Arts and Crafts (PGDTAC) being offered to delve and get an insight into tribal arts and crafts by studying the comprehensive dimensions surrounding it which includes social, economic, anthropological, historical, cultural and many interwoven aspects thereby educating and equipping the interested graduates to pursue this dimension. PGDTAC will be a value addition to the existing courses offered by IGNCA and its various chapters across India. Our Country is garlanded with amalgamation of various tribal communities. One of the major strength of this country is its rich plethora of diverse cultural and traditional vibrancy through its awe-inspiring craftsmanship which is mostly inspired by nature and its bounty. The variety and variability of indigenous art and craft skills is quite rich and diverse, However the authentic expression of an indigenous aesthetic tradition needs to be safeguarded it is high time that we recognize the need to bring forward the meticulous indigenous art and craft tradition before they are lost. The PGDTAC initiated by Regional centre Ranchi is a small step towards that direction.
