Triund is approximately a 10KM trek from Mcleodganj Square. Start early if you intend to return the same day. Staying atop overnight is worth for the amazing views it offers. For those who stay in cities and gotten accustomed to the sky lit with the artificial city lights, this would truly be an amazing experience under the stars. The whole sight cannot be explained in mere words nor can be captured in DSLRs. It has to be experienced.nThe trail to the trek starts from Mcleoadganj Square through the Tibetian Institute of Performing Arts(TIPA), Dharamkot and Gallu Devi Temple. This is the point where Taxis drop you off and the trek starts. It's a moderate trek. Though a trekking stick is advised for the unfit. The final 30% of the trek tests your mettle, if you are not accustomed to long walks or treks. It is also steep. I took 4 hours and 30 minutes to reach the summit. Please do not waste much of the time, taking photographs of the views, the trail offers. The view from the top is amazing.nThere are 3-4 shops in between Gallu Devi Temple and the summit, offering Water bottles, Gatorade, Cookies, Tea. Most of them cost 30-40% more than the MRP. Tea costs you INR 30. Gatorade is INR 70.nOnce you reach the hill top, there are shops which rent you tents. Single Occupancy ranges from INR 400-700. Haggle. You can get it a hundred less than the cost quoted. The shopkeepers also serve lunch and dinner for INR 130. Basically Dal-Chawal. The taste is amazing though. Water bottle costs you INR 50 atop. Maggi is around INR 90.

Long and Awesome Trekk, you will enjoy every bit of it. So many places on the way to get some rest if you want. The beauty once you reached the top is just amazing.

A very tiring, long n lil scary(atleast for me;) trek which will take around 3-4 hrs one way, but once you get on the top, the lush greens and the towering mountains overlooking you will just make you forget everything. Camping for a night, laying on the cold grasses n looking at the vast field of stars will seem like a dream and make you never want to come back to the reality.
