Sonari Airport is fully owned by Tata Steel. We can say it's a private property but it is public. Small runway of 4000 ft. Many times public air service has started by few aviation companies like, MDLR, Kingfisher etc. This airport commenced in 1940 with the area of 25 acres. The best thing of this airport is one day every year it's open for common people to familiar with aeroplanes and the date is 29th July, which is a birthday of India's very first licensed pilot Lt. JRD Tata. Beautiful airport. There is another facility for Commercial Pilot Licensing. Alchemist Aviation is operating as a training institute at Sonari Airport. If anyone wants to become a pilot they can join here.
