It was founded in 1878 as the British Imperial Forest School by Dietrich BrandisDietrich. In 1906, it was reestablished as the Imperial Forest Research Institute, under the British Imperial Forestry Service and in 1991 it was declared deemed university Imperial. it's a remarkable place to spend few hours to know more about nature and British India time history.

One of the best museum in india for plant tree and their family including surviser insects , wide range collection for children and students who want to study about forest and timber , i seen first time widest teak wood tree's cross section in this museum.
