Shyamali, Visva Bharati, Santiniketan, demonstrates the experiment to see the efficacy of mud construction and to serve as a model house for villagers. Built in 1934, the single storey structure has load bearing thick walls and a sloping mud roof.nKeeping Tagore’s ideas in mind, Surendranath Kar prepared the architectural plan and Nandalal Bose prepared the visual perspective. It’s exterior walls were decorated with beautiful relief works by Kala-Bhavana students under the guidance of Nandalal Bose.

Why does the ground around the compound have to be loose soil? As if there wasn't enough dust already. The compound should have been grass. The place seems to be well maintained, at least the inside of the museum and the exhibits are. But for people who suffer from dust allergies, do carry a mask.
