Location: Hpcl petrol pump Ghaziabad.nDated: 21 Feb 2020, around 07:15 AMnnThis petrol pump is running a scam. Please be careful when dealing with these people.nnHere's how the scam goes:nn1. Employee 1 asks you how much petrol you want and sets the reading and informs you before starting. In my case I wanted full tank. (Eventually I got to know my bill was for Rs. 1,550.. However I was charged Rs. 1960.. Will come back to this topic later)nn2. Employee 2 comes up and tries to distract you by telling you of some card scheme. In between he tells you there was a power cut and machine needs to start again. This is where the scam starts.. The Emp 2 will try to get your attention while machine reading starts again (this is from where reading actually stopped - but if you didn't pay attention they will claim later reading started from zero again). In my case reading had stopped at Rs. 410.nn3. Final reading as I observed stopped at Rs. 1550. I gave my card to emp 2 expecting deduction of Rs. 1550.. But to my shock he had already deducted Rs. 1960 as my card was RFID enabled. The logic they gave was previous reading was for Rs. 410 and after power cut reading again started from zero. So total is Rs. 410 + Rs. 1550 = Rs. 1960nnHow I got out of this scam?nI simply asked for the last bill of Rs. 410 which obviously they won't have. Then they agreed to give me two hand written bills but by then I was already aware this is a scam.nI started asking for the manager etc. and threatened them I will complain to their regional head about this.nBy this time emp 1 panicked and asked emp 2 how much he had deducted. When he said Rs. 1960 he started scolding him and said he should have deducted Rs. 1550 (this was a poor attempt to cover their scam as by now other customers started getting curious). Since they had already deducted Rs. 1960 from my card emp 2 still was acting smart and said that I will get refund of Rs. 410 on my card later but by now I was furious and demanded the refund immediately. To avoid any further scene they agreed to pay me back Rs. 410 in cash.nnSo friends, please be very careful of these fraudsters. Hopefully, no-one else will be cheated like this if sufficient people are aware of this scam.
