Located next to Junagadh fort, this lake is Surasagar lake. Although Rajasthan is a desert state, the lake has water all year round. The members of the royal family used to swim in the lake and go boating. The fort looked different from one side to the other. The stone color of the fort can be called dark pink or almost red. Raja Rao Bikaji, in whose hands the kingdom of Bikaner was founded, laid the foundation stone of Junagadh fort with the help of his idol Shri Karni Mata Devi. Karni Mata was a woman of blood and flesh, whose picture is found in the history books of Rajasthan. Dynasty of Bikaner is blessed by the mother Karni Mata Devi .

Nice place which always attracted some body. Initially it was a fresh water lake, than become a part of city's drainage system and than whole mud was excavated, built-up new in every manner but still no use of such a heavy expenses. Maharaja Soor Singh of Bikaner built this lake to restore water for use of public. Now a days the purpose is same but system changed, so the whole things as well.
