Guru Purnima is a festival which is meant to honor the Gurus. This great festival is celebrated on the full moon of Ashadha month. It is said that as the heat of the sun gives the power to produce cold and harvest crops from the heat, the Guru leads the human from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge and the future is groomed, so in his honor only Mass Poornima is celebrated as Guru Poornima.
