A Temple dedicated to Daivathar Eswaran.nUnlike Andalur kavu the Festival rituals entirely different in Mavilai kavunThis temple festival is held in the month of April during the Vishu an harvest festival of Kerala.nnAs part of this festival there is a sacred exchange of blows festival (In Malayalam Adi festival). It is a no-holds-barred physical combat between two teams of powerfully-built men, sitting on the shoulders of tall men who are propped up by their aides from the sides to keep them from wobbling during the man to man fight. the referee is daivathar (avatar of lord siva), the temple’s presiding deity. People who take part in this Adi are known as “Kaikkonmar” . All mavilakkar and thousands of people from different parts of north Kerala, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or political affiliation (Mavilayi is a strong left citadel (CPM) and the birth place of noted communist leader A. K Gopalan), throng the temple on these days.
