The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) formerly known as National Open School (NOS) was established in November,1989 as an autonomous organisation in pursuance of National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. NIOS is providing a number of Vocational, Life Enrichment and community oriented courses besides General and Academic Courses at Secondary and Senior Secondary level. It also offers Elementary level Courses through its Open Basic Education Programmes (OBE).Government of India through a gazette notification vested NIOS with the authority to examine and certify learners registered with it upto pre degree level courses whether Academic, Technical or Vocational. Association of Indian Universities, vide letter No . This is the regional office for NIOS in Assam and whenever anyone has a doubt the security will solve it. Why can't we talk to the officials who have proper knowledge. They have such poor communication with students. I regret choosing NIOS now. All thanks to the lazy officials. I went there to submit my TMA and the security simply didn't let me submit. He made thousands of excuses. This attitude towards students won't help your board but who cares, you people have your government jobs, you can simply sit there and earn. I wish this office had a decent workforce. If any person of higher authority is reading this please address this matter as soon as possible because students are losing hope on NIOS.
