the food is not that good as the comments and also expensive. Jay make us recommend his restaurant to other people on the street, i really feel uncomfortable about that.

We met Jay a couple of years ago when wandering around the fort and made the wise decision to use him as a guide to explore further afield sticks in hand to keep monkeys at bay. He was entertaining, funny, speaks excellent English and was excellent company. In fact we ended up spending quite a lot of time with Jay over 3 days. What a genuinely lovely guy. Sad to see how some more affluent business owners nearby looked down on him and tried to intimidate him. So pleased to see Jay has established his own cafe Whilst he had not opened it when we met he did organise a meal for us served on a table laden with petals. It was the best meal we ate in 3 weeks in India. In fact going to Bundi and meeting Jay was the highlight of our trip he made such a mark. Despite usual reservations we agreed to visit friends who sold silk scarves and silver and bagged some bargain. Also lovely, genuine, small business owners. Should have bought a few more silver bangles they were so cheap. So pay a visit to the cafe and let him guide and entertain you You will be glad you did. We miss you Jay. From Sue and Lou

What a fabulous little cafe. The thali was second to none and the welcome the best in India. I recommend that anyone passing through Bundi drops by. Jay is also the guide for the fort, so maybe call in on your way up to the palace and fort. They make you feel like part of the family and really welcome you into their home. One of the highlights of our trip.

Jay offers exceptional guiding services throughout the fort. If he does not intercept you at the ticket counter, you can find him at Jay Cafe, near the ticket counter to enter the fort. Highly recommended as there are no information boards, directional signs or indicators within the fort and in addition to guiding you to the right places, Jay is charismatic, entertaining and extremely customer focussed. His energy and enthusiasm can be mistaken for pushy or scam-ish but persevere and enjoy his company and knowledge.nHe asked us for 100Rs for his entry ticket and 400Rs for his services - we also left a tip despite the higher than usual price because he was so good.nAdditionally, Jay Cafe (chef, Jay’s sister Rikku) served our best meal so far in India, without any exaggeration.nHighly recommended.
