I visited this place to attend my grandmother's funeral and it was very peaceful.Only 3 monks were present there to attend us.nNow it's getting renovated ud83dude06ud83dude06

Built in 1971, the Dali Monastery also known as Druk Sangag Choling Monastery is located 5 km away from Darjeeling Town, West Bengal state of India. The monastery was erected at the time of Kyabje Thuksey Rinpoche – a religious Tibetan teacher, and is famed as one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries with white buildings built in typical Tibetan style. The Dali Monastery which belongs to the Kargyupa sect is now the head quarters and residence of Drukchen Rimpoche the XII, who is the supreme head of the Kargyupa sect of Buddhists.The gompa is also known for the visit of the current Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, who came here in 1993 to spread Buddha’s teachings in the region. There is a small library in the monastery where people can see a collection of Buddhist scriptures and other literary work.nnThe monastery has got an awesome appearance when you watch it from a small distance. The monastery has got an arch gate and as soon as you enter through this, you will be astonished with the striking structure of this building. This main purpose of the foundation of monastery was to establish and preserve the Buddhist religion and Tibetan culture in this region.
