Malakkallu is a place where people of different religions live together. It is one of the most developed towns on the Kanhangad-Panathoor route. There is a Christian church, four banks and a UP school. Apart from these, there is also a primary health center, a post office, a homeopathic hospital and a tribal extension office. It is predominantly Christian with an immigrant population.

An old beautiful church with a heritage look. It is hearing that they are going to demolish this to build a new church. I feel that these building is supposed to be renovated and protected as the moniments of the Knanaya Catholics history of this area.
