Sir John Hubert Marshall House

The double storeyed gothic style building, located close to the present archaeological museum, was constructed for sir john marshall, former director general,Of ASI Who stayed here during 1912 -19 when he carried out the excavation and conservation work on plan it was two room at the west of the entrance hall, while three room to the east of entrance hall beside there are two toilets and one kitchen also on the ground floor. On the first floor there are five rooms one toilet and a terrace.nnEarlier it was in possession of ASI but later it went in the hand of PWD department this department convert this building into a government guest house along with some additions and alternations.nnit came back in possession of ASI in the year 2004. A comprehensive conservation has been carried out in the building by bhopal circle. as the building was used by sir john marshall, this memorial museum is in relation to his contribution. the object displayed here are basically wooden furniture, cutlery, books on sanchi written by sir john marshall, etc.

It is the Architect who discovered Sanchi Stupas.
