.....................Peaceful place................nThe top of the hill can either be reached using steps that start at the bottom of the hill or by car using a rather perilous road. Now the vehicles can reach till top as the road conditions have improved. There is a parking available at the top. The idol of Devi Mahishasur Mardini Yamai in black stone is almost 2 meters high and is in a cross-legged sitting position. The temple is the family shrine (kula-daiwat) for a large number of Marathi families. The top of the temple has images and idols of various Hindu deities. The town and the temple has been associated with the Pant family for many centuries. The present head of this former ruling family, Gayatreedevi Pantpratinidhi, has installed a 7 kilograms (15 lb) solid gold kalash or crown on the pinnacle of the Yamai temple on the hill. Another temple of Devi Yamai is located in the town; apart from the one on the hill.nnShri Bhavani MuseumnThe temple complex also houses the Shri Bhavani Museum established from the private collection of the Maharajas of Aundh. The museum building is situated on the middle section of the temple hill.Visitors can reach the museum, both by steps and road. The museum holds paintings by noted 19th and 20th century Indian artists such as M. V. Dhurandhar, Baburao Painter, Madhav Satwalekar and Raja Ravi Varma as well as the famous Mother and Child stone structure by the British artist Henry Moore.

ud83cudf3c ABOUT YAMAI DEVI TEMPLEnnYamai Devi is our family deity and thus it's been a ritual for us to pay a visit to this temple every year.nnThe Yamai Devi Temple is located in Aundh village of Khatav taluka in Satara district, some 42 kms from Satara City.nnActually there are two Yamai Devi temples here -- one in the heart of the village and the other on the hill nearby. Both are magnificent temples.nnIt is said that these temples are around 250 years old or may be more than that. Predominantly, the Yamai DEVI is the local deity of Satara. According to the Yamai Devi temple customs and traditions, the devotees are first supposed to visit the village temple first and then come to offer the prayers to the hill temple.nnud83cudf3c ARCHITECTURE OF YAMAI DEVI TEMPLEnnA medieval period temple with influences of cut stone, lime stucco, timber framed and painted poly-chrome traditions. You will see the fine craftsmanship, kitsch folk art, graceful fusion of Yadava Period and Bahamani styles of architecture.nnud83cudf3c WHAT TO EXPECT AT YAMAI DEVI TEMPLEnnBoth temples give you a sense of tranquility and divine feeling. It's a place where you just want to continue to sit without any disturbance.nnAnything made up of leather / gold / silver is not allowed inside the cell where the sculpture of Goddess is placed. For Eg: belt, wallet, watches among other things.nnSince the Yamai Devi Temple is located on a hilltop, you can also witness the beautiful scenery from the top with swathes of lush greenery surrounding the area. The views are just breathtaking with a soft breeze blowing around.nnBe just a little careful while driving your way up the hill, as the road is narrow, with a couple of sharp turns of almost 180 degrees. Although there are barricades put up, it's better to drive safe.nnThankfully, both temples or the whole village is not yet commercialized, unlike many of the temples in India. It's actually good to have privacy at such places of worship, where people don't force you to buy garlands or Prasad and the old world charm is very much prevalent.nnI would highly recommend you to visit the Yamai Devi Temple at least once in this lifetime and experience spirituality with a dose of serenity.nnud83cudf38 SanchitaReviews | 5/5nnud83cudf38 Where | Yamai Devi, Sakhargadnivasini Temple, Kinhai Village, Satarannud83cudf38 Call | NAnnud83cudf38 Timing | 8 am to 6:30 pm; every daynnud83cudf38 Entry Fees | Nonennud83cudf38 Photography | Allowednnud83cudf38 Parking | Ample Parking space is available at the Yamai Devi Temple premisesnnud83cudf38 What Could Be Improved |nn➡ufe0f The devotees should act responsibly and not leave up unnecessary garbage of plastics at the temple premises. This place is located on hill top and I must say the view(pic attached) is majestic.nWe visited temple post restrictions were uplifted from covid travel in Maharashtra but I must say that the temple was well kept and no one was allowed inside the temple without mask on as well as proper social distancing was maintained.

Yamai Devi Temple is around 44 KM from Satara and around 294 KM from Mumbai. I visited this place along with my family. The temple is very much revered in Maharashtra and also one of the top places to visit in Satara.nThe temple can either be reached using steps that start at the bottom of the hill. Direct road access is also available to the hilltop. The temple complex also houses Sri Bhavani Museum established from the private collection of the Maharajas of Aundh.nThe temple has huge parking space. Also near to the Bhavani Museam there are some stalls where we can eat bhaji's and drink chilled lassi.
