Step Aside - a historic buildings in Darjeeling where Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das breathed his last in 1925. It is a 3 min downhill walk from Chowrasta (Mall). You can catch amazing views of Pandam tea estate from here. Unfortunately due to Covid, the museum is close.nGandhiji also stayed in this house. It is also noteworthy that in this very building, on May 8, 1909, the prince of BHAWAL allegedly passed away.

The memorial is temporarily closed and located at about 5 minute walk from Darjeeling mall.

It remains a star attraction point for boyhood memories. The national hero, politician who is still remembered.... even about 100 years after his death proves....he was really a super hero... He once told Najrul Islam, the famous Bengali poet.... that country will get freedom from British Empire only by armed struggle but the leadership of the nation should never go to them. Because any nation that achieved freedom by armed struggle never prosper , and every 20-30 years a coup changes leadership. His words are still word by word matching.

We can keep a timing for the visitors.nAnd if the timing is already kept then an attendant should be available there.nWe see most of the visitors return annoyed and disappointednnHopefully we the localities of this place want this place also to be frequently visited by our beloved tourists who love our hills.nCant anything be done to keep this auspicious place frequently open for tourists???nnWe see lots of tourist visiting this place where one of our great freedom fighter breathed his last but unfortunately its every time closed and sadly all the Patriots and tourists they return annoyed and without have a glimpse of this place.
