The old railway bridge was connected between Hooghly and Gorifa. The Naihati to Bandel line is the connected through it. It was built by British Colonial Government in the Jubilee Year of Queen Victoria's leadership of British Govt. The bridge was used for both goods and passengers train. In the year 2016 it was closed permanently. A new bridge was built just beside it.

The bridge was the first railway connection with Kolkata to Western part of India. Made in 1887, the bridge served one time Bandel to Naihati route. Now the bridge is closed,after completed double line in Bandel Naihati route.
