Kids First Pediatric Dentistry

We had gone for 2 or 3 visits before CV19 and the care was good and my kids liked it. I am giving one star because their new precautions don’t allow parents to be with their children during the appointment. I’m simply not ok with that and am looking for a new provider.

We have been using Kids First Pediatric Dentistry for over 8 years. Reception, dental hygenists and both of the dentists are all great! They are always kind and patient with my kids and want to make sure that they have a good experience.

We've been coming here for a while, and I was initially very happy. Enter this year with COVID. My kids should've been seen back in late March or early April. There were appointments on the books and we received an email stating everything was canceled and that they'd contact us to reschedule once they were back open. No one ever did so, but I contacted them to set up an appointment for my 3 children earlier this month. Less than 24 hours before the appointment, I receive a text demanding paperwork be filled out before the appointment. I did not have enough time to fill out all 9 forms before the appointment, so I called to reschedule, understanding this was now their policy. I filled out the paperwork last night for appointments today starting at 12:40pm. I happened to get a system-generated email this morning saying I hadn't filled out the forms yet. I responded back that they should please check the system because I'd filled them out. I received a response saying that they'd gotten them and they'd see us at 1:20. I responded back confused because I'd had us down for 12:40 and even the system email said 1:20. They told me it had changed. Thankfully, that didn't put us in a bind, so that was fine. When the appointment ended, they told me I owed $15 for each PPE mask. Nowhere did it say that was patient responsibility in their forms. ($15 isn't that big a deal, but they should be up front about that.) Then, after each child was done, they recommended seeing each child on a 3-month basis (something not covered by insurance) due to poor brushing habits. (Keep in mind, it's now been about a year since their last appointment, due to COVID.) They then recommended one of my children needing 3 teeth extracted, not for any other reason than that it would be recommended by an orthodontist. Not because there are cavities or any other reason. When I got home, I had a voicemail from the doctor, nearly backpedaling and stating really only one needed to be extracted. Tl;dr summary: Get a second opinion from a dentist office who communicates better and isn't money hungry.

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Mendoza and her staff since she was a child and we have always had a wonderful experience!! At her last visit she had fillings and Dr. Mendoza and her staff were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. My daughter was a bit nervous but that quickly disappeared after Dr. Mendoza walked her through the process and made her feel comfortable. The staff at Kid's First were wonderful and made the entire experience a pleasant one. They were very understanding and caring throughout the entire appointment and had excellent follow up. I highly recommend Kids First. We will be customers for as long as my daughter is able. Thank you Kid's First for being so wonderful!! Keep up the great work!!

We love coming to this dentist. They are always kind and great to work with all the office staff. The dentist has a great bedside manner and very gentle with my children. I would recommend to this dentist to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist.
