The best thing about and around Cleveland, but maybe even around Northeast Ohio.nnLots of nature. An empire of wild plants and animals. And if that would not be enough, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park has a lot of scenic places, a wide variety of potential activities and a rich atmosphere of eventful historical past, that at least for a national park.nnOne of those emblematic features is the Towpath Bike and Hike trail that connects the two metropolitan areas of Cleveland on the north and Akron on the south. Basically this trail is the backbone of the national park.

This has always been one of my favorite places! The first time I remember being out here was when I was 12. Amazing trails! The whole place is peaceful, though the trails seemed a bit crowded today. Every hiking trail seems to have picnic tables located nearby which is great if you have kids and need to stop to eat.

While a very pretty area, I don't feel that this park lives up to the designation as a National Park. There is no single natural or man made feature that causes it to truly stand out from many other local and state parks that contain similar features. Even the sum of what the park is does not in anyway stand out. It is a nice urban park however, with several historic features, plenty of walking and hiking trails, and a scenic railroad running through the park.

First, this park is LARGE! The visitor center is about a 10 min drive to popular hikes and waterfalls. We planned on a short break as part of a road trip and spent a very nice half day hiking along a well traveled and well marked (at times steep) trail along the the Ledges path (a short loop) and then visiting waterfalls. We will definitely be back to keep exploring!

Beautiful place to visit, but crowded more than I like.
