One of the best places to visit in Kollam is Thevally palace. The palace is perched on the banks of lake Ashtamudi. The palace stands as the representative of the glorious times of the city. It will take you back to the old world charm. Its structure is something that will grab your attention. This is a must-visit place for history enthusiasts.

This Palace is situated at the banks of Ashtamudi lake.This Palace was built in between 1811 and 1819 the reign of Gowri Parvati Bayi. The Kings of Travancore had used Thevally Palace during their visits to Kollam in order to meet the British Residents and to discuss with the officials. The palace was once used for the administrative purposes. Kollam was the capital of Travancore kingdom then.

Thevally Palace built in the 19th century on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake by Gowri Parvathy Bhai is a combination of Dutch, British and Portuguese architectural expertise. Being their capital the Travancore Kings built this as their administrative office and now it is a heritage building and historic monument of the state of Kerala. The Palace has a temple inside and now it is the office of National Cadet Corps. The palace will attract heritage and colonial architecture lovers.nnthis palace belongs to erstwhile kings of travancore,nicely located at thevally,on the banks of ashtamudi lake. now this palace is used as the office of NCC ,and it is not respected as a historical building anymore.
