Unlike other forests in the Western Ghats, it does not have large mountains. The number of wild animals are low. But elephants are common. Peacocks and small birds abound.A road from Konni to Achankovil cuts through the middle of this forest. Similarly, Achankovil river also passes through the centre. The Achankovil River is the backbone of this forest.It has a good habitat for a variety of animals and birds. Tamil Nadu is on the eastern border.

Best place for individual wild life photography and much more deep wild points edge cliff photo area were available..be aware with bears ..and local brokers for the falls and lodging you should be aware.. .. instead private resort and bangalow ...you must choose from best website for lodging and others...It's most parts were in under the Kerala forest department so may take permission from there to avoid unnecessary action takes on yourself....Finally one of the best and enjoy full trucking and mountain climbing is awesome.....

Nice place to spend a holiday . If you gonna with friends that place like a heaven. Especially biking to the mountain that view was awesome. Safety of this there is no question rising about that , because thare are so many forest guards here for our safety.
