Am amazing place to experience nature's tranquility n abundance. Highlight of the trip was 10 km night trek. Although no tiger sighting, but witnessed water crossing of family of elephants, sambar deer, mouse deer, bison heard n Civet cats. Owls n night jars were also spotted.nnIt was an exhilarating experience, this should be introduced on all National parks

Wonderful park to visit. Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (PNP) is a protected area located in the districts of Idukki and Pathanamthitta in Kerala, India. ... The park is a repository of rare, endemic and endangered flora and fauna and forms the major watershed of two important rivers of Kerala, the Periyar and the Pamba.nnApart from Elephants, the other animals can be found in the Periyar Sanctuary are, Wild Pigs, Sambar, Gaur, Mouse Deer, Dole or Barking Deer, Indian Wild Dog and Tiger. There are, now estimated counts of 40 tigers in the Periyar National Park.

One of South India's most popular tourist attractions, Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is centered around a lake built by British engineers in 1895 for irrigation and to provide water to the city of Madurai. Established in 1934, this beautiful park is home to numerous species of mammals, including a large free-roaming Indian elephant population, wild boar, otters, the lion-tailed macaque, and more than 20 Bengal tigers. Bird watching is a popular activity with frequent sightings of species such as darters, storks, kingfishers, hornbills, and racket-tailed drongos, along with many interesting varieties of butterflies.

A place that takes you through the beauty of western ghats through a boat ride & forest trekking. It is a different experience of travelling in the boat and seeing the wild animals (do not expect much as mostly you could see wild boars, deer and birds and if luck is there elephants and tiger). It is a very busy tourist spot however if you reach early it will be easy for you to get into the boats first. Accomodation will not be problem as lot of hotels are available.
