South Park Street Cemetery

This place has a serene and calm atmosphere. Rich in history and for all you feluda lovers, this place has a mention in your favourite series too ;) Easy to reach and really cheap to get in, this is an amazing site to take a moment to breath amidst the busy park Street area. Notice the contrast between the shiny modern building and the couple of century old graves here? That's a stark contrast to modern times and an older one

Honestly, after reading a few articles about kolkata tourism and finding this place to be haunting were literally two different things. Firstly, it's poorly maintained as are a lot of heritage sites under the government for all they have done is mark the commemorative obelisks and structures as 'dangerous by tree roots' in red and left them to their dilapidated state. The writing on most of the plaques on the structures are illegible and barely visible. No sign boards indicate the notable graves and people just tread around on the path that's a bit too slippery by the moss. The entry fee is 20 rupee per person and with camera it's 50. Despite this, the watchman lives in one of the structures and has converted one into a storeroom around which a family of roosters peck in the drains. I wish there was some arrangement of audio guide at least or even boards explaining who the people were who had family graves in such conditions.

THIS PLACE IS JUST BEAUTIFUL AND CALM.... SERENE AND PEACEFUL... VERY BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURES AND AMID NATURE.... U CAN RELAX HERE FOR A WHILE... GREAT FOR PHOTOGRAPY...

If you want to live in history this is the right place. The place is full of trees and I love that. Best time for come is in afternoon

excellent place..old and peaceful..it's not haunted at all..ticket charge 20rs only for each.if you carry a digi cam then 30rs extra.they don't charge for mobile camera.
