Built by Louis Taillefert, then director of the VOC in Bengal, the cemetery was active during the 18th–19th centuries, and houses about 45 graves of Dutch citizens who died between 1743 and 1846. The oldest tomb belongs to Sir Cornelius Jonge who died in Chinsurah in 1743. Other prominent people buried here are Daniel Overbeck, Gregorious Herklots, a high official in the VOC, and George Vernet, another VOC director. The latter’s tomb has no inscription

Among all the other attractions in Chinsura, the Dutch cemetery holds a very special place. With the oldest grave dating back to 1743, this place is a must visit. The lush green grass and beautiful trees around make it a calm and serene place. Make sure you go there early, preferably before noon, to avoid the heat of the day.

A place that holds a bit of history of Chinsurah in it. 45 Dutch graves in approximately 7400 square meter area give an unforgettable vintage vibes if you have interest in 18-19th century India. The oldest grave is of 1743. Archaeological Survey of India protects the place as national heritage. Different types and structures of tombs can be found. A must visit place if someone have interest to feel a bit of history.

I wish they could be preserved a litt better... But archeological society is doing everything they can... Also... If there was a way to know the full documented history that'd be great.
