Kindly note the below if you are coming here for police verification/character certificate for Passport or before joining a new company:nnI am listing down to the detailed procedure as it is not available anywhere and it can save a lot of your time.nn1.Before coming here make sure you have got a Bank Challan of 100/- from SBI Bank at Tularam Chowk Branch in the name of 0055, SP office.nThe 4 page Bank Challan costs 20/- bucks and Tularam Chowk people know about it so they will fill it for you.nn2. After getting the bank challan, you have to go to the local police station or main police station of your area. (Come to Kotwali if your area comes under it)nn3. When you go the local/main police station of your area, make sure you have the bank challan, a very clear adhar card copy and a hand written application in हिन्दी addressing to the थाना प्रभारी asking for the character certificate. Mention your address, father's name, mobile number etc in the application.nn4. Submit the application, bank challan, adhar card copy to the person who does this job in the station. Anyone in the station will direct you to the concerned personal.nn5. After submitting all this, it normally takes 3-7 calendar days for the certificate.nn6. After you get the character certificate, you need to come to the SP office and submit it to the passport cell. They might again ask to fill up some forms+ passport size photos+ adhar card copy and mostly they will ask for bribe unless you know someone there personally. They will do the verification then.nnIf you follow the above steps, you will not need to run around and your work will be done quickly.nnPS: you may need to bribe at some of the local police stations as well to get your work done faster. However the police people are normally good and the don't ask for it mostly.nI had a to pay bribe. I don't wanted to but it was an emergency else they will make you run around.
