Jamia MIillia Mosque is situated adjacent to New Library at West, backyard of Dr. Zakir Hussain mausoleum at North and Jamia School campus at east. Mosque is housed in a campus which has its own boundary perimeter with garden on all 4 sides. The main Mosque campus has entries from 3 sides except West. Mosque has an inner Sehan which houses approximately 8 rows consisting of 100 individuals in a row. The exterior part has an open air hall which can house 20+ rows of 80 rows each with covered alley on both sides of 10 individual capacity each row. Further, during Juma Salat there is arrangement of prayers in gardens on all 3 sides.nThe Jamia Central Mosque also organises Eid-Ul-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha prayers which is largest gathering in whole of South Delhi. This is a place anyone can visit. Sometimes life gets arduous and you need to spend time in a serene place to collect yourself. Entry is denied to no one(except for women, as far as I know) and people from all faith can enter the mosque for salah or self-reflection. Prior to 2020 the mosque used to be more accessible, but lately people are allowed entry into its premises only on designated prayer times. The architecture of the mosque complements the overall aesthetic of Jamia buildings and the green lawns surrounding it lay in striking contrast to the white mosque. The Imam of the mosque is a genial old man who you can approach after prayers. The mosque gets crowded on Friday prayers and most of the people have to stand in the hot weather outside during summers. The mosque regularly organises ijtemas which a lot of hostel-dwellers attends. If you are in the vicinity and you hear the muezzin chanting the azaan, please visit this beautiful mosque.
