It’s well known that the famous centuries old Banyan tree, one of the largest living plant in the world, is here. Definitely this is pride of Indian Botanical Garden, but beyond that there are so much to discover if you are interested enough to explore into the treasure of nature. Accumulation of thousands different plant species from around the world are continuing here since last two and half centuries with proper scientific care .Those oldies are now turned to hugest and perfectly harmonized themselves with the surrounding local flora and fauna, and their joint efforts made this area an unique bio-diversity pocket .Birds are hand full. Varieties of native and imported flowers blooms on their individual season. Numbers of Skippers and vivid butterflies hop flower to flower in search for nectar. Innumerable insects waiting under branches and leaves for photographs. From gigantic trunks to tiny shrubs, climber or aquatic life, everyone contribute their individual uniqueness to form adequate diversity on this hardly over 100 hectares area. Surrounded by clamorous city oneside and river Ganges in other, the green area are still there to provide some blissfulness in daily life of city-dweller.

A very very beautiful place with lots of plants beside the Ganges. There are a variety of unique beautiful plants with many historic significance .. In total a very beautiful peaceful place... It is advised to wear full sleeved clothes in fear of insect bites... A car ride is very usefull. No polythene is allowed inside the premises of the garden..
