That's my church. Very courteous and warm. Members are friendly and the pastor being the best part. Would recommend people to try coming and attending service. Best organ in eastern indian I guess.

Nicely maintained heritage church, attached to Calcutta Girls School. Loved the pipe organ.

Thoburn Memorial Methodist ChurchEstd. 1873 The year was 1875 - the first anniversary of Revd. Dr. J. M. Thoburn  in Calcutta. While the Pastor was meditating on the wonders of the bygone year, a messenger brought to him a note containing 60 rupees sent by a poor widow. She was not a member of the Church but she implored him to accept this sum as an offering towards the erection of a new and large Church. The 60 rupees was the embryo from which this huge structure of the Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church emerged, two years later. The Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church, with a seating capacity of over 1500, is undoubtedly one of the largest Churches in Calcutta. It is also completely self - supporting. A building of this size needs substantial funds to maintain it in a state of good repair. Add  to this amount the monthly expenditure on electricity and water and you find that it adds up to a tidy sum. The Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church has a pastor and a couple of supportive staff. The monthly salaries and related benefits of this small work force is the rsponsibility solely of the Church. Under the aegis of the Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church are several schools of which only two i.e.Calcutta Girls School High School and Calcutta Boys School are truly self - dependant. The Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church also helps financially number of poor families - Christian and Non - Christian. The Church also remits money to baby folds (orphanages) and old peoples homes managed by the Methodist Church and other denominations. The Methodist Youth Youth Fellowship (MYF) and the Women's Society for Christian  Service (WSCS) are also organs of the Methodist Church of India and are also involved in  supporting Evangelical works and Social service in different ways. Both these wings of the  Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church, received grants to a certain extent from the Church  to implement and execute their plans. Methodist Men are also actively involved with the Evangelical & Social in different ways too.

This place is something to be talked about...my Church...my School's church..ahaa...just love the place
