If you are a tourist in Amritsar and want to shop for traditional wear during your visit to the Golden Temple, then 'Katra Jaimal Singh' is your place. Walk around and you will find a variety of traditional stuff. One can shop for women's garments like stoles, shawls, salwar-suit, sarees, etc with hand made phulkari-embroidery work. Men can shop for traditional Pathani suits. Both men, women and children could shop for the traditional Punjabi Jutti's (shoes). It's generally a good idea to take a round of the market first, before actually starting to shop. Prefer fixed price shops, although you can still bargain a little at the end. You can help yourself with the freshly squeezed juices being sold by street vendors - ask for a disposable glass. Can have lunch at Kesar the Dhaba or Lassi at Gyan's (take an e-rickshaw or a rickshaw if you don't wish to walk down).
