Camped in site 44 on Nov 20-23 2020. Absolutely loved this place. Very quiet, rode our bikes all around and everything was very clean. The hosts do not have wood to buy because a recent hurricane knocked down a lot of trees and there is lots of wood available--.however it is green at this point. Pick up a pack of dry wood and bring with you. We always take our battery powered chain saw with us to chop what we need.

Be prepared in the summer for ants and Alabama Red Wasps. We had ants that came in our new camper the first day we were there. We hadn’t even cooked or set any food out. We battled with ants the whole time, even while we slept they were in the beds climbing all over us.nnWe took half a day to fish off of one of the piers. When a boat went by it must have stirred up a nest of wasps. We were all stung multiple times and were chased by these awful critters...Very traumatic to say the least.... Our next door neighbors were the ones who told us they were ‘Alabama Red Wasps’ and that the sting is indeed awful. Apple Cider Vinegar helped us by relieving the pain from the stings.nnThe camp ground on the other hand is clean and quiet and peaceful. The bathhouse was clean with the best water pressure. The lake with the Spanish Moss in the trees was very picturesque.nnI would give this place 5 stars but the ant problem was terrible and should be noted. I have read where other camp grounds have similar problems. I am not sure what the remedy is or if there is something we should be doing when we camp to prevent this. I hate using ant spray everywhere. Who wants to breathe that in??

Been coming to Prairie Creek for 15 years. One of my favorite spots. The Alabama River is so majestic and Thriving with Wildlife. Lots of Deer in the Campground itself. Halloween is also a awesome time for the families. See you in Lowndes!!

Prairie Creek is a great little gem out in the middle of rural Alabama. The water sites are so nice. There are courtesy piers for fishing and good ole laziness. The sites are set up very nice, but there isn't any sewer. There is plenty of room to get to the dump station. I enjoyed walking around and hiking through the woods. This is an excellent base for boating, fishing, and kayaking. The boat ramp is top not notch and there is plenty of room to park. The water views have been made very nice, due to the hard work of the awesome volunteers. Alot of the spaces are shaded really well and over all, I totally enjoyed my stay. The staff is awesome and they really keep everything up in the right way.
