The school was established in the year 1871.The school have had a glorious history. A large number of alumni of the school achieved the prestigious position in literature, culture, administration and other fields not only in Assam but also India and abroad. The School building retain its heritage architecture with some modification.A big play ground attached with the School campus for sports and games.

One of the oldest Higher Secondary Schools in Barpeta District started in 1871. It possesses enough space. Good venue for training camps. Enrollment is good but all are concerned about the fulfillment of goals set.

Govt.higher secondary school is a nice school and it is located in barpeta town.this scho was established in the year of 1871in barpeta town.the view of this school is nice.the campus of this school is cover a large area.this school has a play ground inside its campus.the quality of education of this school is very good
