Jayanti Shaktipeeth Shri Nartiang Durga Temple, Meghalaya

It is unfortunate to find that such a lively and reverberating shaktipith where left thigh of Ma Sati had fallen is still a sort of unidentified place among the hindus despite the fact that kamakhya shaktipith is within 160 km distance with very nice road network .One may visit this place either directly from Gauhati or from Shillong.Importance of this temple may be well understood by the fact that the the people of this area are known as jaintias and the geographical area is called jaintis hills on the name of ma jayanti .A seren and enchanting place full of natural beauty.A good inspection bungalow of p.w.d road north division jowai is just beside the temple which may be used on nominal and meager govt fee.In this temple puja is performed by Maharastrian brahmins right since centuries dating back 1400 plus A.D.People say that the present pujari is 31 st generation of that clan. The temple was in a very shabby state earlier but the Ramkrishna society Sohra(chetra punji} renovated the campus beautifully some year back but left the maintenance work since then. It is a great pleasure to witness the grandeur of this temple which speaks volumes of the power of mighty Ma who invokes thr necessity of renovation in her children and the temple gets its majestic appearance once more..The priest resides in the residence for him in the temple campus it self and very amicably performs puja for the bhaktas.However the pilgrims should come with puja samagries as these are not available here,Of late it has been learnt that the one small shop has come up in the seren temple complex to cater the puja materials needs of devotees.which needs to be confirmed..

I love nartiang temple it is very easy to go jowai from my home . So i tell pilgrims please visit one time at Nartiang Durga Temple.
