As an amateur oil painter, I was falling in love this gallery. Compared to the Melbourne one , I think this one has more beautiful paintings. Also like most of the gallery, they have different theme for different period which is quite interesting. I would recommend this spot when you travel to Sydney.

Went to see The Archibald Prize exhibition. There is however, so much more to see, and you could spend several hours here as an art lover, taking in classical to contemporary art in several media. Have tried the restaurant here. It belongs to celebrity chef Matt Moran. Nice- but I would say ( as I do for most high end restaurants) overpriced and could do with bigger helpings!!! The cafe is what you would expect from a cafe attached to a tourist attraction. Lovely building, which I noticed was in the beginning process of being extended. Domain, Hyde Park, Botanic Garden and another cafe and restaurant at the Domain close by. I love the art gallery and have visited multiple times.

Absolut fantastic place. I've visited this place now two times with roughly 6 months in between, both times I didn't need to pay an entrance fee and I was able to get impressed by two complete different collections. It was amazing and inspiring. Thank you

Spacious and nicely laid out gallery right next to Hyde park. Their indigenous art exhibition ('under the stars') is excellent as are the European galleries. Entry is free (with some rotating paid exhibitions) and the cafe is a good spot to catch a quick break. Would certainly recommend a visit.

The entrance that leads into this building was inspired from neoclassical architecture, and most of the contemporary art is located in the postmodern galleries. I prefer the 19th century Australian and European art. There's an Asian gallery located towards the back of the museum, which has some interesting sculptures and objects. I've never had a bad experience in this place, and I always go there when I need some inspiration.
