My favorite place to camp near the Quad Cities! I prefer to primitive camp and there are many options! The boat rental and lake offer a lot of choices too! There are bathrooms and RV camping as well. I recommend this place for new and seasoned campers. Apparently you can bring your horses and camp and ride too! I will forever recommend this preserve!

Had a beautiful time @ Loud Thunder 2 times over Labor Day. We took my 2 dogs & loved how great the trails looked! Fave trail was East loop? And we came upon this bridge & our dogs weren't sure of main bridge but luckily their were 2 more choices/ w/ no up & down/ solid as a rock!! Big thanks to all the workers at loud thunder that made these trails fantastic!

Great trails. Friendly staff. Campground is decent. Not a lot of trees or separation between sites. Fun place to spend a weekend

We had a wonderful day here! We rented a pontoon for an hour and then went back across the damn and fished off a little dock. The lake is beautiful! Next time we will rent the boat for longer than an hour - that was not nearly enough time. We can't wait to come back!
