Custer State Park

Absolutely fabulous. The views were breathtaking. The wildlife abundant. The sky clear. We hiked trail #9 & #4. Both manageable for our group of six; ages 12 to 43. $20 pass is good for a week yet you could easily spend way more time there than that. Highly recommend.

This is a must! Wildlife loop and Needles highway can entertain you alone!

Clean place with a decent amount of parking. A lot of the main trails and roads were closed for the season/construction. However, the small hike I went on was still rewarding! Came across some deer on the path and was able to catch a great view of the sunset 🌅

We had never really heard of this park before we arrived in South Dakota. This is really a beautiful and scenic place and we recommend it to anyone that can make the trip. A word of caution - the tunnels are small! If you are driving an RV, it most likely won't fit in them! The scenery is spectacular and was especially beautiful in the fall colors.We saw the herd of buffalo just before the big roundup - what a magnificent animal!

A beautiful park with incredible rock formations - BUT - be aware it is overrun, tour helicopters are endlessly thumping overhead and there is nothing quiet about the experience, unless you really get deeper into the park. I never want to give nature less than 5 stars, so it's us noisy humans that have lowered the rating on this park.
