Sacred Heart Church is located in Singamari, Darjeeling behind the Singamari Taxi stand. It is at a walkable distance from St Joseph's College and the North Point School. The Church is also very close to Tourist destinations like the Ropeway and the Darjeeling Himalayan Zoo. It is said that the establishment of the Church can be attributed to the efforts of Fr. Joseph Ford, who was a Belgium Jesuit.nnHe came to St. Joseph’s School in the year 1895, and started pondering over creating a Catholic community around North Point.nnWith this in mind Fr Ford recruited employees from the school run by Jesuits at Kurseong. In 1898, a Church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus was made to the local Catholics.nnBy then, the Rector of the school was in-charge of the local Catholics. All baptisms used to take place in Town Parish church until 1951.nnThe first baptism was of Rudolf Subba, by Fr Jack Coffy, SJ. In 1955, Sacred Heart Church was given its autonomy and Fr Jack Coffy was appointed the first Parish Priest.

I was here for the funeral of one known to me. Community hall is big enough to arrange and manage crowd more that 200.

We were here for my brother in law's wedding. Liked the service at the wedding and there was space to accommodate around 500 guests. The only issue was that at night, toilet becomes difficult to access as it gets very dark and there are no lights in the toilet
