I decided to take the elephant ride by myself during our visit to the fort as the other members of my party preferred to travel up to the fort by car. Our local guide informed me that the price was 1100 Rupees followed by a mandatory 100 Rupee tip for the rider which I agreed to.nnHalfway through my elephant ride, my rider asked me whether I would like his help in taking a picture, I obliged and handed him my smartphone. After taking it, he was going to hand it off to one of the merchants walking below us. I immediately snatched it back from it before he could do anything with it.nnHis demeanor then turned brutish as he tried continuously said that the police would come after me due to my actions in snatching the phone back. I immediately laughed it off and decided to ignore his outlandish statements. He even had the guts to ask if I would like a selfie with my phone which I refused profusely.nnAs if that was not enough, when it came time to disembark from the elephant ride (which I was happy to do), he requested that I gave him his tip which I begrudgingly handed over. To my enormous shock and horror, he said that 100 Rupees was not enough and requested an additional 100. I told him repeatedly that I only brought 100 for the elephant ride as that was what the guide told me and even showed him my empty pockets. After much talk and persuasion, he finally relented and left me off the elephant (Thank God!).nnThis experience was also soured by the fact that there were many photographers situated along points on the elephant ride that were taking pictures of me. After I disembarked, one of them insisted on selling me 2 ugly Polaroid photos of the elephant ride even though I refused. He even began tailing and following me around the main courtyard of the fort trying to sell them to me which I openly refused multiple times. At one point, he even tried to grab my cap as payment for the photos when I told him that I had no money on me at the moment. I finally got rid of him when I entered the fort (past the security checkpoints) with the other members of my party.nnOverall, the fort itself is a stunning piece of architecture but I would strongly advise everyone against taking the elephant ride as it is a tourist trap created to scam money out of customers. Please take a car ride to the main courtyard and avoid the elephant ride at all costs.

I saw the guide hit the elephant with a stick on the way down, then walk 8 km's which took hours because every idiot along the way wanted a pic, in 40 deg heat, the elephant was lifting its feet on and off the hot tar the entire time, people are so stupid to believe this is humane, these elephants were beaten into submission, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that one out! STOP RIDING THEM, YOU ARE THE CAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEVABLE ABUSE!!!!!!!!
