Russell Springs KOA Journey

The map is completely misleading. No flat sites. One site on top of the other. While preparing this review I read some others. One over 2 years ago about the laundry room needing work. Then again a year ago another person reviewed it and said the same. Now after we visited they still have not fixed the dryer as it doesn’t work as of July 20, 2020nThe road coming in the campground has a HUGE hole that needs filled. The road driving their is not Class A friendly at all.nCurfew....ready to be treated like a kid?nThis is basically a retirement community masked as a KOA. The owner cares more about pleasing long term campers than us misfits who visit during the summer.nThe pool doesn’t open until 11am and closes at 7pm sharp. Our group doesn’t drink or get wild in the least. But on Saturday night around 10:03pm the owner came driving past our site and told us that we needed to turn our music COMPLETELY OFF. OFF? Off!!nPrivacy violationsnThe night before We had a family member who had his basic rights violated by a self identified security officer from this KOA. The officer actually unlawfully entered (walked onto the porch opened the cabin door and entered his rented cabin) and asked if he belonged there. Now here is the back story. He (family member) recently had his dad pass away (reason for the get together) and was out walking after 10pm. He has a light on a headband and was wearing it that night. He was not only out walking with it on but was also looking for something that he had dropped. As he entered his cabin this is when the Security officer catches up to him and enters the cabin asking him who he was. (They don’t have a right to unlawfully enter into a contracted residence) highly illegal. The owner spoke with him the next morning and told me and another family member he believed his story and that his officer shouldn’t have went inside.nnThe staff that I personally interacted with outside the owner seemed nice but didn’t like the owners stance on his policies such as the pool hours. They actually encouraged me to challenge them on what they called Crazy policies for a place so close to the lake.nnIn a time that businesses need business. It seems that extending pool hours and allowing extended Happy Hour times would be a basic thing to do.nnIt might be an unfair assessment but This family has owned this KOA for so long that KOA can’t or won’t intervene or else they would’ve done something by now.nOverall This would be a great fit for people with no plans of using the facilities as they are outdated, people who like dirty pool water as the pool was not skimmed and was dirty, opened late and closed early, Someone who doesn’t need to do Laundry as the machines after 2 years (according to reviews) are still not working.nnMy advice Sell the business or take the KOA name off the campground.

Love this relaxing getaway.. Staff is super helpful and very accommodating. Weekends cant come fast enough to get away to my home away from home!

We spent a little over a week here while finding and buying a farm. I can't speak highly enough of the staff, especially Susan who was so kind as we kept extending our reservation and who came around to let each camper know of changing mandates due to the pandemic.nThe showers are clean and have good pressure. The wifi is pretty food for a campground. There's a nice little off leash area for your pets.nHighly recommend this KOA for anyone visiting the Lake Cumberland area! You will be treated with kindness and looked after on every level!

Amazing place to camp, everything is kept up and clean, the staff is the best that ive seen in any campground.
