Nice place to understand a brief history of Travancore.

Old palace converted to museum. Contains historical artifacts, paintings and art owned by the erstwhile Travancore kings. Beautiful wood work. Average guiding service. Entry by ticket only. Worth the time.

Calm and serene atmosphere to spend a few hours at. We entered the museum accidentally but enjoyed every bit of it. One can get a detailed account of the generations of rulers from the Royal family who ruled the erstwhile princely state of Thiruvithamkoor, the gifts they received from all around the world etc. The architecture of the palace is another yet the important factor to make a visit for.

Such a beautiful and historic place to visit. Teaches a lot about Travancore history and takes us through the roots of monarchy that once ruled Kerala.

Puthen Malika aka Kuthiramalika Malika is an architectural marvel. It's located close to the Sree Padmanabha Swami temple and shares the location with Chitralaya gallery as well. The entry fee is 40- 50 RS and it includes the service of a guide as well. The interiors of the palace is crafted skillfully. A lot of intricate carvings in teak and rosewood. Shandeliers made of Belgium crystals. It also exhibits the portraits of various kings and queens, thrones made of crystals and ivory, various weapons, sculptures and craftworks done in stone, ivory and panchaloha,an alloy of 5 metels. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the museum.
