Jungle Retreat Wayanad

Awesome place in the jungle...we had booked jungle heritage rooms which had clear view of animals...we could spot deers and elephants and peacocks...food was delicious...rooms were super clean...the host was also nice...would definitely recoomend this property to others

This the favorite jungle hide out for all in my family and we did our 6th visit here recently. I don't think there are many places where you could spot wildlife from your cottage veranda. Place is absolutely safe and you have right folks who knows the jungle like their backyard around you. They can take for a hike in the jungle or a drive through the forest roads. There is a camping site on the banks of river Kalindi where a night campfire with some Kerala food prepared by the tribal chef is offered. We spotted tiger during evening drive and tons of elephants and deers. Tirunelly temple is just 10 minutes drive from here. Homely food with top class service is just icing on the cake.nPlease go there only if you love wildlife, forest and not looking to party in a luxurious place

Good place and tasty food nice coperation everything was superb

This retreat is at the edge of the forest and just beside a watering hole. They have cottages as well as a twin cottage. The cottages are simple having all the needed basic amenities like bed, mattress, lights and fans, attached toilet with geyser. The attached balcony overlooks the plain adjoining the jungle and water hole. We see many wild animals come to this water hole and the plains. The staff at the retreat are very courteous and get completely involved in hospitality. Mr. Manu and Mr. Anil need special mention. They are excellent animal spotters. They are full of stories of animal sightings. They organize a campfire some 10Km away beside a stream and that's an amazing experience. Chathan Cheta there cooks up some tapioca sweet dish with freshly ground chilli tomato onion chutney and it's mouth watering. The travel to and fro the campfire site serves like a mini night safari. They also arrange jungle Safaris (Tholpetty and JLR). They arrange walks beside the retreat into the jungle and that's a must go of you are an animal lover. The food is tasty and homely. We spotted a tiger, malabar giant squirrel and many tuskers and bison, many deer and peacock in and around the premises. The jungle safari - JLR is must. We saw asian mongoose, asian elephant, sambhar deer and wild dogs. The best thing is that there is no mobile connectivity - so we are cut off from the world (jio works fine, and vodaphone to some extent). Every day we get up to the sounds of birds chirping and animal calls. The owners Mr. Anil and Mrs. Anju go the extra mile for everyone. He works at Google and yet has wildlife as his passion and is passing it on to his next generation. He had so many true stories to share along with the videos from the animal camera traps that he had around this property. The way he shares these stories, is so engrossing and speaks volumes about his passion. On the whole this was an unforgettable experience.nnCosts (roughly). Wildlife Package - 4000 /head per night. Travel from Calicut Airport 5000/ trip. The journey has 9 hairpin bends and many many curves. If you have motion sickness, better take precautions. JLR safari - 1750/head. Tholpetty safari - 720/jeep and 150/person.

Exceptional service, food, stay and wildlifenYou will not regret booking this place. The service was great, the staff was polite, the food was delicious, fresh and not repetitive and above all the stay was very comfortable. They have a large grassland where we saw many animals including a tiger one day. Elephants and deer were always there. The staff is amazing and they made our stay so pleasant. We also chose awareness trek which was amazing and we were also taken for a campfire near a river, it was a wonderful experience.nnAll in all, you will not REGRET staying here.
