Believe me, you wont regret coming here. The greenery is soothing. I immediately loved this place. There is a very nominal entry fee. But you can easily spend a day here. Try the local dishes /snacks outside of its entry gate.nJawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden is a lush green expanse of land that enchants visitors with its serene beauty. Located near Rumtek Monastery on the highway, the Garden encompasses rare plants, trees and numerous species of flowers including Orchids of Himalayan region. This verdant green patch of land is maintained by the Forest Department of the Government of Sikkim under its unit of Parks and Gardens.nIt was Established in 1987, A huge greenhouse has been erected in the garden, where different varieties of Orchids are grown. With the intention of merriment for children, a small recreational area has been made in the company of merry-go-round, swings and see-saw.nA concrete pavement across the garden leads to the hidden areas of the park and assures a stress-free saunter. On the opposite hill, one can see the rambling town of Gangtok. The best time to visit this garden is between the months of March to late May and from October to Mid-December.

Surrounded by lofty mountains Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden has a collection of about 1.5 lakh ornamental plants and a huge collection of oak varieties making Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden a paradise for botany enthusiast traveling to Sikkim.A huge greenhouse has been erected in the garden, where different varieties of Orchids are grown. The botanical garden has something to offer for each age group and with the intention of amusement for children, a small recreational area has been made in the company of merry-go-round, swings and see-saw.

Initially, I was skeptical about visiting a Garden when I could see the wonderful nature around me everywhere in Gangtok.nBut I loved it. And that's because of the variety of beautiful flowers nurtured in the garden. I had never seen those before.nWow!!!nI had 200 photos of just flowers and plants.nAnd I would say the camera could not capture the colour and hues of the flower.nBeauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and it can be captured with the naked eye. I was disappointed with my camera.nTrip to Gangtok is the memory of a lifetime.
