RamRam,nAt a distance of 2 km from Thanjavur Junction Railway Station & 0.5 km from Old Bus Station, the Art Gallery is located within Thanjavur Palace. The gallery houses a treasured collection of bronze icons, stone sculptures and other artifacts, which today stand testimony to that golden age in Tamil history.

Amazing place to know about the ancient history. It includes all the showcase of many things used by our ancestors. If you're in Chennai just go to there to spend weekend and it really worth for it. Just take ur children's with you to get to know them about our history. They will be very much interested to see like this.

Good place to visit in thanjore you can have a auto after you visit big temple to this place. Lot to see in this area like Saraswati Mahal, clock tower ,art gallery , Maratha palace. You can definitely spend 2- 3 hours here as lot of things to see. You will see a skeleton of whale there. Lot to see also important thing is you need to buy a ticket which cost around 50 and for cameras it is extra.

Items are good. Collections are good. But the location is a little obscure and difficult to locate. The exhibits are kept in the balcony of first level and hence cramped. There are multiple steps and we have to be careful in navigating them. I am talking about being careful with personal experience. I fell flat on my back in one of the steps inside.

Must see place inside Maratha palace and the gallery showcasing metallic and stone artifacts of hundreds of years old. Well maintained. We can also walk up to the first floor to see the Gopuram (Tower) which looks very beautiful and interesting. Restrooms are situated outside gallery.
