Great RV campground but needs a few updates, which hopefully will be done while the repairs are done for the tornado damaged areas. campground is closed currently and planned to reopen in in March 2021. Lots of well managed trails with many beautiful views and wildlife to enjoy.

Stayed at the Lakeside Cottages to spend time with my Mom which was in from out of town. It was very well stocked and clean. Only issue we had was the lighting outside. We grilled and there was no light to see, so we used cell phone for flashlight to cook dinner. The grills are out front and a picnic table as well but, would be nice to have one down by the water to grill out and eat as well. But, other than that it was awesome and would definitely recommend. We did let them know at checkout about the lighting and they said they would definitely check on it that due to the previous storms there may have been some out that they were unaware of. Very nice staff!!!!

Joe wheeler is my favorite spot to camp . They have the best spots just to sit up camp and enjoy peace and quiet. The beautiful deers they have and protect is amazing . Great for swimming at the beach and they have parks for the children and at one time a ramp for the kids to play on. They are really nice people there also and they make sure things do not get out of hand . Everyone is friendly ... Joe wheeler will always be my place to go .
