Salem Marthoma Church

Salem MTC is the first Mar Thoma Church in Ernakulam, evolved from the Mar Thoma Congregation which was established in year 1932. The property of 14 cents at Convent Road where the Church is situated now was acquired in year 1936. The church was established in 1937. Currently Salem MTC consists of 300+ families.

One of the oldest Marthoma church in India, when the church got divided between Syrian & Marthoma churches in early 20th Century; this church has gone to Marthomites. Wonderful architectural historical building, the history lovers can enjoy it.every week there is special prayer and lot of people attending this prayer and good spiritual atmosphere.

Excellent Church and Worship, historic Church but rebuilt in a modern way. Elite people.nnI like the Choir. It's led by a retired Judge, who leads it like Western Churches. The hymn music is of high standards. They have one of the best choirs in India!nnThe congregation is very decent, and not rushing or in urgency, but behave very refined! The parking area for cars is just opposite the Church and in the basement.nnThe Church itself is on the first floor, with wheelchair pathway. The actual Church on the first floor itself is of more than two floors high, having a balcony, in all being able to accommodate around 400 people.nnThere are two projectors, the right-side one being very clear and viewable. The priest area is semi-circular, and has automatic motorised curtain opening and closing. The entire auditorium is sound-proof, air-conditioned, and relaxing.nnShoe and footwear racks are neatly arranged outside. The top floors have halls, which are also serviced by elevators. Though only of 13 cents in area, which is 5662 square feet, the new Church building is optimally utilised to full use.nnBeing centrally located on the cross road of the famous Mahatma Gandhi Road in Ernakulam at Convent Road, it's easily accessible.
