This is where Pope John Paul ii landed in a helicopter on 1986 February 8th. He proceeded from here to the special venue constructed in Kottayam and declared Sr. Alphonsa Muttathupadam and Fr. Kuriakose Elias Chavara as 'blessed'. The stage constructed at the time of his visit was a spot for youngsters of the region for evening gatherings. However, the authorities ruthlessly demolished the spot in early 2000.
