Very nice murals. Maintenance needs improvement. ASI should be given more allocation to maintain such historical places

Visited Feb 2019.nOne of the nicest places to visit in Vadodara, but one that is relatively unknown. A must visit IMO. The simple exterior is misleading. There are really beautiful paintings, murals, wood carvings inside. The caretaker had gone for lunch when I was there so I could see even areas that are normally off limits to visitors (see attached pics). I don't know if the stuff inside is original or has been restored by the ASI. Only the front two floors are open for viewing the rest is in a dilapidated condition.

This old house is a true beauty and a paradise for any history nerd! The frescoes are absolutely breathtaking and present an elegant picture of 19th century court life and the luxurious lifestyle of the elite. However, there was little explanatory material in any language and, without my external tour guide, it would have been difficult to understand and fully enjoy this place
