Must visit fort if you are around. Neat and clean and maintained well. One needs 2 to 3 hours to explore completely. Opens at 8 30 am and closes at 5 pm. You can go in for a morning walk or jog/ sunrise. Ticket counter allows online payment and is quick.

It is nice to visit this place and wonder the architecture. It was built in AD 1650 and the largest fort in Kerala. It spread across 40 acres of land. It is a calm and quiet place which is maintained beautifully. The views of sea and the landscape from the fort is mind-blowing. Prefer the morning or evening hours to visit the place as you will not be able to tolerate the heat and sunlight.

Beautiful tourist point.beautiful beach near fort.nEnjoy sun set on the fort.The Bekal Fort is the largest fort in Kerala. It has a beautiful water tank with flights of stairs running down to it, an observation tower and numerous peepholes offering picturesque views of the surrounding valley. There is an ancient Anjaneya Temple, a mosque, a sea bastion and several underground passages. To one side lies a shallow beach. The zigzag entrance added to the defence strategy of the fort.
