This is the city's most celebrated Gothic structure. Lavishly decorated with sculptures, it was designed by William Stevens and was opened in 1887 to coincide with the Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee celebrations. Makes a striking sight with its cathedral like spires, turrets, arches, Corinthian columns & stained glass windows.nnAs the most important transport hub in the world's busiest commuter rail network, every day over 1,250 local and long-distance trains pull in and out of its 18 platforms. Together, they carry around three million passengers – that’s more people than travel on the entire British railway network per day. Up to 5000 passengers cram themselves into - or sometimes even on top of - trains built to hold only 1200.

One can say this is the oldest station of Mumbai. Usually crowded at peak hours. Connects all the lines- Central, western, harbour line. This station is also declared by UNESCO - World heritage site. You can see some beautiful carvings on the walls and glasses. The station is extremely clean. You can also find small shops for eatery like popcorn, rolls, and snacks. There are almost 7 to 8 ticket counter.
